Professor P. K. Hakkaladaddi

(30 June 1931 to 13 January 2013)

To the world, he is sleeping,
But in the divine, he is alive.

Shri Parappa Kadappa Hakkaladaddi was born on 30th June 1931 in Banhatti, Karnataka. After completing his 9th Grade from S.R.A. School (Banhatti, District: Bagalkot), he went on to do his S.S.C. from R.L.S. High School (Bombay Province) in 1949 and his Inter-Science from Karnataka University (Dharwad) in 1951.


He earned his B.Sc. Degree from Lingaraj College, Belgaum (Karnataka University) in 1953 and was awarded a scholarship by the University to pursue his M.Sc. Degree which he received in 1955. He served in the then Vijay College, Bijapur as a lecturer in Mathematics from 1955 to 1961.


He worked as Head of Department (Mathematics) Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College (Ghatkopar, Mumbai) for nearly 28 years. He was selected as Bombay University Mathematics expert, and his responsibilities included being the Paper Setter for the Higher Secondary Certificate Examinations and Chief Examiner for the Secondary School Certificate Examinations.


In his distinguished career, Professor P.K. Hakkaladaddi was Moderator for I.C.W.A. (Calcutta) and I.C.A. (New Delhi). He was also the Founder Principal of A.S.P. College of Commerce, Bijapur.


He was known far and wide for the several textbooks he authored, and, to his last day, he was guest lecturer with several management degree colleges.


Professor P.K. Hakkaladaddi died peacefully in his sleep on 13 January 2013.


Many people envied the way he died which was not surprising, because many people envied the way he lived. As one college professor rightly stated:


An era has come to an end.”
